NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
With the support of Whelen, I will be making my debut in the first three road courses of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in the number 76 with Freedom Racing Enterprises.
St. Petersburg
My NASCAR Craftsman Truck debut was one of highs and lows. We had the pace running a fast lap of the race, consistent top seven times, and passing 45+ trucks. Not the finish we wanted, but with no practice and qualifying due to rain, we proved we had the pace.
Watkins Glen
Our second NASCAR Craftsman Truck series race was one of ups and downs. Mixed conditions in practice showed promising pace with top 5 times, but some issues in qualifying put us on the back foot. We were able to put together a smart race, making up to right outside the top ten before the last-lap restart. Unfortunately, on the last lap, we had some help to visit the grass, but took the truck home clean with a top-20 finish. We will be back and better for San Diego.
San Diego
San Diego marked an incredible event; getting to race on the Naval Base Coronado was unlike anything I had experienced. We showed up with the pace this weekend. After an eventful start to the race that caused us to shuffle to the back of the pack, we put our heads down and went to work. In a bold move on restart, we went from tenth to fifth, then to third. We held our own with the best of them, running around the top ten for the majority of the race. Unfortunately, with two laps to go, a collision in front of us took us out as innocent bystanders. Despite a tough finish, we showed what we are capable of this weekend.
North Wilkesboro
North Wilkesboro marked my first-ever oval race. My prior oval experience has been limited to two one-off events at Martinsville in the MX-5 Cup series. The weekend was full of learning. Each session I learned more and more. Overall, positive takeaways from this weekend as I move into a new step of my career. Thank you to Whelen and Freedom Warranty for the opportunity.
